Finally, one of my roses has bloomed! This is Brenda, my floral tribute to Mum after she passed away from pancreatic cancer in April this year. It's an Amber Queen ('Haroony') floribunda rose.
We bought two rose 'sticks' from B&M garden centre earlier on in the year and they saw rapid growth as the temperature went up. The new shoots became infested with greenfly and I took the decision to prune the runaway shoots to make the shrubs more bushy than gangly. They're growing nicely now and I haven't seen the greenfly reappear yet.
This flower bloomed the other day and there are more buds ready to open in the coming weeks.
Hopefully the other rose, a tribute to the legendary Nigel Dailey will come into flower soon. I'll be sure to let you know.
