So I've been pleased that I've currently got a DigitalOcean Droplet running docker with my currently-used web services on it. However, it's all well and good having it hosted on someone else's hardware, leaving them to worry about reliability and running costs but what about backups?

I'd already come across a script to do just that using DigitalOcean's own DOCTL doohickey. However there was still a need to automate the snapshot process and do housekeeping on them.

There's a really cool how-to on Aaron Weiss' blog that intoduces the do_backup script to take care of all that nonsense. Have a read of it and tell me it's not the bets thing you've seen all week! :-)
